Sheila Williams-Brown

Attaining her GED® and becoming a registered nurse had been twin goals for Sheila Williams-Brown since 1980. But providing for her family as a busy young mother always took precedence.

Then, with the help of a volunteer math tutor at the Free Library of Philadelphia, Sheila was able to pass the exam in 2008. That opened the door to Community College of Philadelphia, where she earned dual Associates degrees. She then entered Gwynedd-Mercy University and received an Associate of Science in Nursing in 2013.

Now Sheila Williams-Brown is advancing in the nursing career she always dreamed about. She’s even inspired her nephew to follow in her path. He is a proud GED® holder who plans to attend Community College of Philadelphia in fall, 2014.
