H. Naomie Nyanungo
Director of Professional Development & Community Engagement

I joined the Office of Adult Education in April of 2014.  I am excited to have the opportunity to contribute to improving access to and quality of adult education programs in Philadelphia.  By coordinating the professional development program, I organize training sessions to enhance the skills of administrators and teachers of adult education.

I am also responsible for managing relationships with agency partners in the myPLACE℠ program and supporting the work of the Philadelphia Adult Literacy Alliance. I feel honored to be working with and supporting individuals and agencies committed to making a positive difference in Philadelphia and beyond.

My journey in adult education started 15 years ago as a volunteer tutor in Illinois.  Since then I have worked in university and community settings in Pennsylvania and abroad (Grenada, Zimbabwe and South Africa.)  I hold a PhD in Adult Education from the Pennsylvania State University, a Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Communications and Business Administration from North Central College, Illinois.
