Dan Ruppert

ESL Learner Neima K. credits her tutor Dan Ruppert at IHM Center for Literacy in West Philadelphia for motivating her to keep learning. “Neima, you can do this, don’t give up,” he says. When asked why Dan volunteers he said, “I was taught to not only to take care of myself, but to take care of others. These values where taught at home and in school by the Immaculate Heart of Mary Sisters in the 1950s and ‘60s. I saw a sign one day as I walked across the school yard that said ‘Volunteers Welcomed’ and the spirit said to me, it’s time to give back.”  Dan is grateful to the Sisters at IHM Center for Literacy for the opportunity to serve others.
