Do you work at an organization in Philadelphia supporting adults who are looking to take positive next steps in their lives and are looking to improve their skills in reading, writing and math? Developing these basic skills will provide adult learners with opportunities for attaining their education, career and earning potential.

The Office of Adult Education is seeking educational and career development partners to join in two new exciting opportunities around free, thoughtful, and engaging educational tools aimed specifically at supporting adults preforming between a 4th –  6th and 6th – 10th grade level, and who are looking to improve their lives through work and education.

1. myPLACE℠ Online Program

myPLACE℠ Online classes are a seven-week, online course focused on reading & writing or math, created specifically for adult learners preforming at a 4th – 6th grade level. The Office of Adult Education is piloting a new Blended Learning model to provide customized support to organizations serving this population.

About Partnership:

We are currently recruiting 3-5 organizations as partners for our Winter 2017 courses.

myPLACE℠ Online provides an online facilitator that will work with the learners to improve their academic skills and grade their assignments.

myPLACE℠ Online includes materials that can supplement your existing program.

myPLACE℠ Online offers an additional resource to learners in your program that perform at  4th-6th grade levels in reading, writing or math.

The deadline to become a partner is January 11, 2017. Classes begin on February 4, 2017 and run through March 25, 2017. To apply email Jennifer.Kobrin@phila.gov with your interest.

2. myPREP℠ Program

 myPREP℠ Online courses help adult learners at a 6th – 10th grade level get one step closer to achieving their personal and professional goals. This free program is part of the Office of Adult Educations myPLACE℠ adult education program and provides learners with a customized learning experience, based on learners’ academic assessment and unique areas of need.

The coursework is aimed at supporting students with the Accuplacer for the Community College of Philadelphia Entrance Exams, TEAS Nursing Exam, Employer HR tests and to help to improve general literacy and numeracy skills.
