myPLACE℠ Celebrates One Year

myPLACE℠ is celebrating one year of service on January 29th after opening last year to provide a one-stop for adult education and career preparation to Philadelphians. myPLACE℠, which stands for Philadelphia Literacy and Adult Career Education is the City of Philadelphia’s first technology-based adult education system to provide convenient access to Adult Basic Education (ABE), English and a Second Language (ESL), and GED® preparation.

martin regusters 5936 webIn the last year, 3,914 adults have pre-registered for myPLACE℠ with 1,716 adult learners enrolled in an online class through myPLACE℠. Along with three campuses and over 20 partner agencies, myPLACE℠ also offers the nation’s first online, cohort-based reading, writing, and math courses for low-literate adults called myPLACE℠ Online.

Last February adult educators, community leaders, elected officials and adult learners gathered at Congreso de Latinos Unidos to celebrate the grand opening of three myPLACE℠ campuses.

Five months after the grand opening, the Mayor’s Commission on Literacy celeDSC_1064brated the success of myPLACE℠ with an end of the year celebration. In celebration, Leah Harvey and Susanne Svizeny of Wells Fargo presented a $10,000 check in support of myPLACE℠ Online.

The Mayor’s Commission on Literacy looks forward to continuing to aid adult learners through myPLACE℠. A special thank you to our myPLACE℠ campuses’ staff and partner agencies for your continued service.
