Will the Mayor’s Commission on Literacy provide me with instructional material to use with the learners?

No. The Mayor’s Commission on Literacy does not provide instructional materials to use with the learners. However, the adult literacy agencies we refer you to should have their own
materials to use. The Site or Tutor Coordinator may choose to discuss which materials to use
with the learners you are matched with. The Mayor’s Commission, however, highly encourages its tutor trainees to use web-based resources with the learners. It is a way to model for them effective use of technology. Tutors are also encouraged to be highly flexible and creative in their choice and use of instructional material.
