DESCRIPTION 

This training will introduce professionals to concept of movement breaks, explain why the practice of integrating movement into lessons for adult learners can enhance learning, how instructors can promote a healthy environment for learning, and provide practical recommendations for implementation.

Physical Activity Coordinator

In this role Kelli leads department efforts to make staying active the easy choice for all Philadelphians by engaging with communities to promote physical activity and improve community design to promote health. Kelli transitioned into public health after 10 years in corporate wellness and athletic training. She holds a B.S. in Athletic Training from Boston University, a MA in Exercise and Sport Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and is honored to be a member of the inaugural class of Bloomberg Fellows, currently earning her MPH at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Get Healthy Philly
Senior Projects Coordinator

In this role, she manages staff, projects and partnerships, especially those related to youth and families. She values opportunities to build shared agendas among City departments and other public entities; a current example of this is the work that Get Healthy Philly, the Mayor’s Office of Education and the School District of Philadelphia are doing with the Healthy Schools component of the City’s Community Schools initiative. Prior to joining the Philadelphia Department of Public Health, Mica spent twelve years doing economic and social justice organizing, including as a co-founder and first executive director of Media Mobilizing Project.
