About Adult Education in Community School

Free adult education classes are offered in the 12 Community Schools neighborhoods of the School District of Philadelphia. Parents and community members can join a class right in their neighborhoods to improve their reading, writing and math skills; join an English as a Second Language class (ESL); get help to earn their high school diploma (GED® or HiSET®); and learn new job skills. Adult education classes allow residents continue their education and qualify for family-sustaining employment.

This is an initiative of the Mayor’s Office of Education and the City’s Office of Adult Education to offer adult education classes in Philadelphia’s Community Schools. This is made possible through funding from the Philadelphia Beverage Tax.
